Obituary

Nancie Jean Schaefer (nee Servis) was born September 6, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Beatrice Servis. As a young girl Nancie’s family moved to Haddon Heights, NJ. She is a graduate of Haddon Heights HS. She spent her young adult years volunteering with the US Navy hospital in Okinawa, Japan with her then husband John E. Schaefer and her two sons Mark A. Schaefer and Michael A. Schaefer. Nancie and the boys returned to Haddon Heights where Nancie worked her way through the ranks in the banking industry, starting as a bank teller and retiring as the Vice President of South Jersey Savings and Loan in Glendora, NJ. Nancie touched many lives with her kind heart and warm smile. Her love of books and flowers kept her busy as well as antiquing with her girlfriends or volunteering her time with the Haddon Heights Alumni Association. Nancie passed through this life on March 10, 2020 after a two and a half year battle with a brain tumor. Aside from her two sons, Nancie is survived by her daughter-in-laws Sandy Schaefer and Kim Schaefer and her grandchildren Jonathan, Whitney, Matthew and Samantha.

Per Nancie’s wishes there will be no memorial or service. She would like her ashes to be laid alongside her parents’. Her Facebook page will remain open and all are welcome to post memories and final words to her there. We ask that all who wish to commemorate Nancie’s life make a donation to either the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053.
