Obituary

Mahala G. (Rex) Forbes passed away on December 8, 2019 at 99 years of age following a battle with dementia. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Richard L. Forbes. She is survived by her son Richard (Laurie) Forbes Jr. of Rochester, N.Y. and her daughter Robin (Arthur) Ackerman of Sicklerville, N.J. Mahala is also survived by grandchildren Rex Ann (Kenneth) Van Pelt, Aaron Ackerman and Julie Forbes and great-grandchild Chloe Ackerman. Rex was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family and friends. She was always the life of the party, was a great cook and loved to entertain. She was an avid collector of knick-knacks, was a frustrated interior decorator and loved to dance around the house listening to 40’s Swing music. Rex loved to have fun and had an infectious laugh! She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Private services will be held by the family. Memorial donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.

My memory of your mom has to be the times she came to visit her friend at the center. Robin would pick her up and she would enter the building with the most memorable laugh and smile. Her laugh and her smile made all around her want “ in on the joke” , and soon everyone was doing the same. I can still hear her laugh and see her smile. May your families always hold that near your heart as you go on without her. She will always be missed.🙏😢

So... my favorite lady EVER went home to Grandpa last night. Gommy, you are the coolest grandparent ever! When even my closest friends love you as much as I do, that’s a blessing any granddaughter can ask for! I’m heartbroken you’re gone, but I’m so thankful for every summer vacation I had with you and our visits to you at Christmas. I love you and I’ll miss you forever. ❤ 8/11/1920 - 12/8/2019, 99 years old. Julie F.

She was about as good a Mom as my sister Robin and I could have had. She somehow managed to keep my Dad from killing me when I did something dumb and put me back together after I hurt myself playing baseball. And, she made the best darn fudge in the world and taught my sister to do the same! Robin and I were blessed to have her and she was the best Grandmother (and Great-Grandmother) to our kids. She'll be sorely missed by her family and friends. We love you Mom!!! Rich F.
