PATTERSON, James W. Age 92. Jim past away peacefully at Samaritan Hospice in Mt Holly, NJ on Jan. 2, 2020. He was born on in 1927 in Lincoln, AL. He proudly served in the US Navy during WW2, Korean War, and Vietnam War. After 22 years of service, he retired as a Senior Chief Sonar Technician (STCS/E-8). Following the Navy Jim was employed at RCA’s David Sarnoff Research Laboratory in Princeton, NJ from 1966 to 1986. During that time, he received an Associates in Applied Sciences from Burlington County Community College (NJ). In 1988 he retired from professional life and moved to Ft. Myers, FL. A passionate and skilled golfer, Jim played the game he loved well into his late 80’s. During the 50 plus years he played, he was a member of several golf course clubs including Fort Dix GC (NJ), Ft. Myers CC (FL), Eastwood CC (FL), and Hideaway CC (FL). He was a member of several organizations including the Freemasons, Elks and the VFW as well as many social clubs in the Ft. Myers area. He was especially active in the Vietnam Veterans Organization and attended numerous annual reunions in Kokomo, IN. He enjoyed attending those reunions so much that he became a Life member of the Howard County Vietnam Veterans Organization. He is survived by his sisters Mary Jo of Talladega AL and Kathryn of Youngstown, OH; son’s Dan of Tempe, AZ and Phillip (Jill) of Marlton, NJ; and grandchildren Andrea and Jennifer of San Diego, CA; Jaide and Dustin of Marlton, NJ. Predeceased by his father, William Daniel, mother Gladys and sister Martha. Interment will take place at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
