Obituary

Elva C. Runquist (nee Collins), 82, formerly of Pennsauken and most recently Hainesport, NJ, passed away due to natural causes on June 18, 2020. Elva was the loving wife, for 63 years, to Edward B. Runquist, Sr, her one and only love. She was the best mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family.
A business woman her whole life, Elva co-owned, along with her son, Ed, Abcon Exterminating for more than 35 years.
Elva enjoyed life, celebrations and spoiling her children and grandchildren. She loved to plan and host parties, dancing, shopping, traveling and dining out. She loved a good, intelligent debate, plus the challenge of her daily crossword puzzles. The consummate explorer, Elva enjoyed long drives. And, according to her, she was never lost.
Elva was also passionate about sports. She was happiest while attending her children or grandchildren’s events or rooting on the hometown teams. A huge sports highlight for Elva was watching the Eagles 2017 Super Bowl win with her family.
Holidays had a special spot in Elva’s heart. Everyone wanted to be a Runquist on Christmas morning. Her greatest joy was seeing the smiling faces on her family members when they opened that special gift she had found for them.
Born in Camden, NJ in 1937 and raised in Cramer Hill, Elva came from humble beginnings. She was a member of Woodrow Wilson High School class of 1955. She moved on to Pennsauken where, along with Ed, she raised her family. For the last 22 years, she and Ed have resided in Hainesport, NJ.
In addition to her husband, Elva is survived by her children Patti C. Runquist (William J. Raftery), Edward B. Runquist, Jr. (Monette Collins Runquist), and Cheryl Runquist Watkins (Kevin J. Watkins). Grandchildren, Tyler Raftery, Edward B. Runquist III, Michael Watkins, Ronald Runquist, and Lynne Marie Watkins. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Collins.

Unfortunately, due to State regulations, the funeral service at Bradley Funeral Home, Marlton, NJ, must be by private invitation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org or to the American Diabetes Association www.diabetes.org.

We will miss Aunt Elva. It was great that she was able to come sing Happy Birthday to my Dad at his 86th birthday. His last birthday. 2016.

Aunt Elva and Uncle Ed came to visit us in 2016, when my father-in-law, Ed's brother Robert, was still alive. Elva and I shared a great conversation about everything from family, friends, to even vaccines!! (the dreaded subject). I saw her again at a recent family gathering. She was always the sweetest, kindest, soul. We will miss her dearly. Sending loving prayers to the whole family. ❤🙏
