Obituary

Dorothy M. Wadsworth
Of Voorhees, NJ. Passed away on October 30, 2020. She was 84 years old. Dorothy was the beloved life-long companion of Nancy Gentile, the loving mother of Judy Homa (Bob), the devoted grandmother of Robbie Homa. She is survived by her sister Janet Scanlon (the late Dennis) and predeceased by her brother, the late Donald Wadsworth (the late Jean). She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends who will miss her. Born and raised in Wesleyville, Pennsylvania (near Erie, PA), she graduated as Valedictorian from Wesleyville High School. She graduated from Clarion University with a double major in Library Science and English, then received her Master's + 18 in Library Science from Glassboro University, now Rowan University. It was fitting that she chose Library Science as her career, since while growing up, she always had a book in her hands. She served as a Librarian for the Pennsauken, NJ School District for over 40 years, first at Pennsauken Middle School, then at Pennsauken High School. Dorothy had a thirst for learning and enjoyed sharing this passion with her students. In her spare time, she studied languages, especially Greek, Russian and Italian and later volunteered tutoring adult Russian and Italian immigrants in preparation for U.S. citizenship. She also enjoyed music and sewing as hobbies. Due to concerns over health related to the COVID pandemic, a celebration of Dorothy's life is being postponed until a safer time. If desired, donations in Dorothy's memory may be made toward Parkinson's Disease research to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
